A History of a Marriage
by Harvey Pekar, Joyce Brabner, and Matt Kindt
"The History of a Marriage" is a true story, one sparked by a simple, everyday postcard.
Harvey Pekar, a native of Cleveland, is best known for his autobiographical slice-of-life comic book series, American Splendor, a first-person account of his down-trodde
n life, which was made into a movie starring Paul Giamatti. He is also the author of Best of American Splendor and American Splendor: Our Movie Year. He is an omnivorous reader, an obsessive-compulsive collector, and a jazz critic whose reviews have been published in the Boston Herald, The Austin Chronicle, and Jazz Times. He has done freelance work for the critically acclaimed radio station WKSU and has appeared eight times on Late Night with David Letterman and two times on The Late Show with David Letterman.
Joyce Brabner edited Eclipse’s Real War Stories, an anthology featuring some of independent comics’ highest-profile writers and creators. Brabner is also the writer of Activists!, PETA’s Animal Rights Comics, Flashpoint: The LA Penca Bombing for Eclipse’s political graphic novel, Brought to Light, and coauthored the Harvey Award-nominated American Splendor: Our Cancer Year with her husband, Harvey Pekar.
Matt Kindt is a graphic designer who never lost his love for comics, spies, or by-gone eras. He displayed a unique visual storytelling style with action, mystery, and intrigue as co-creator of the critically-acclaimed debut graphic novels, Pistolwhip and Pistolwhip: The Yellow Menace. Kindt delivered his most complex and ambitious work in 2005 when Top Shelf Productions released 2 Sisters, a 300-page spy thriller filled with crime noir, swashbuckling pirates, and romance. The multiple Eisner and Harvey Award nominee is currently working on his 52 week run of Super Spy comics.
